Welcome to Ryder Cup XII!
The Neuse Ryder Cup has been played for 11 years…
The South has now gone up in the series over the North and South and has a 6-5 lead…it can’t get any closer or more competitive! Congrats Coaches Bill McCrickard, Joey Stancil and Wendell Goodwin for a Nail-Biter south win in 2011!
Good luck to Captains Bill McCrickard (South) and Ken Deutsch (North) as they try to lead their respective teams to victory in their second year as Captains.
Our goals for the tournament are the same as ever, we remain committed to raising money each year and donating the money to Clayton High School in the form of:
- Funding scholarships for well-rounded and deserving Clayton High School seniors who will be attending a 2 or 4 year University in the fall of 2012
- Funding the Derrick Smith Memorial Scholarship for a deserving Clayton High School senior who will be attending a 2 year Technical or Community College in the fall of 2012
- Rewarding outstanding Clayton teachers and their assistants who consistently demonstrate a passion for education and a commitment to enriching the minds of our youth
- Supporting the development of Junior Golf in the Clayton community
We have raised over $120,000 since the tournament started!!!!
Below are the specifics for this year.
- Everyone will be required to pay the deposit of $135 for the tournament. This will cover breakfast two days, lunch three days, dinner two nights (including Friday’s dinner with spouses), as well as other expenses necessary to run the tournament like having extra carts on hand. Carts/greens fees are separate.
- We will have a maximum 48 players on each side. We will have a waiting list for players that each Captain will maintain. The Captains are responsible for selecting their own teams, and will be sending out invitations in early January each year. Their Assistant Captains will be responsible for verifying handicap information. If the confirmed golfers have paid their deposits is down, then The Board Of Directors will meet by March 1st to make a decision to reduce the amount of players to 40 per side.
- Everyone will be required to raise a minimum of $100 in 2012. We will raise money by two methods this year, either by selling $25 raffle tickets and/or selling $100 tee sponsors.
Your initial deposit checks to play in the Ryder Cup for $135 needs to be made out to NSTAR Global Services and mailed to the address below.
Checks for both raffle tickets and tee sponsors need to be made out to TRIANGLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. All checks need to be mailed to (cash will also be accepted for Raffle tickets);
NSTAR Global Services
c/o Finance Dept
104 State Avenue
Suite 103
Clayton, NC 27520
IMPORTANT NOTE – Raffles are not tax deductible per the IRS so you will only receive a tax receipt from TCF if you donate directly to TCF or if you sponsor a hole for $100 or sponsor the tournament and write a check directly to TCF.
- We will be issuing raffle tickets by early February to everyone. The scholarship committee will be putting out information for tee sponsors in January as well. Last year we awarded a first place raffle prize of $2500.
- We are going to be having the raffle drawing on Friday night at the spouse dinner, and we are also looking for items to be donated so that we can give them out as additional prizes at the raffle, similar to what we did last year. This is strictly voluntary but if anyone has items to donate for the raffle, Gene Greer will be heading that event up again this year. You will have the opportunity to buy tickets Ryder Cup weekend as well.
- The grand prize winner will be able to choose from one of the following when they win…sell a ton of raffle tickets!!
- $2500 gift certificate to Expedia.com for vacation travel
- $2500 Visa Gift Certificate for shopping
- High Definition TV package (up to $2500)
- Ticket and travel package to a major sporting event such as the Masters, the Super Bowl, NCAA’s, Daytona 500 (up to $2500)
- $2500 gift certificate to Lowes or Home Depot for home improvements
- The raffle prizes will be nice, I will tell you that! In order to reward those of us who sell more tickets/sponsorships, you will be given extra entries in the raffle in accordance with the following:
- $300 sold - 1 extra raffle entry for a total of 4
- $500 sold - 2 extra raffle entries for a total of 7
- $800 sold - 4 extra raffle entries for a total of 12
- $1000 sold - 6 extra raffle entries for a total of 16
For every $100 sold by anyone, regardless of whether it is a raffle or tee sponsor, you will be credited with one entry into the raffle (as an example, you sell a tee sponsor for $100, you get one entry in your name into the raffle). Obviously the person who bought the raffle ticket will get an entry as well.

North
The Captain: Ken "Precious" Deutsch
Assistant Captains: Mark Doering, David Troy
Education: Graduate of North Carolina State University
Family: Wife Karen, son’s Trey (9) & Harrison (7), and daughter Mallory (1)
Favorite Ryder Cup Moment: It was 2008 and I was playing singles against Tracy Coats in the final group. Having shanked just about every shot the first 5 holes (at least 10 over and 5 down) my partner Dave Troy kindly reminded me we weren’t playing stroke play and I could make a comeback (he later said I had to say something positive). Long story short I closed him out on the 17th hole! YOU CAN’T BEAT THE GALLERY ON THE FINAL HOLES!!!
I want to thank my Asst. Captains Mark Doering and Dave Troy in advance for all the help I expect they’ll be in delivering a decisive blow to our, “Do I hear banjo music?”, competition! GO NORTH!!!
